Knitting Ministry

We gather to knit for those who are going through difficult times.  We knit hearts, prayer squares, prayer shawl, hats, and whatever else seems appropriate to the person and the prayers we have for them.  The yarn is blessed, the objects are knitted with prayer, and we pray on the finished projects.  We meet Wednesdays at 1 pm in the Sanctuary kitchen and knit around the table with fellowship and much laughter.  You are welcome to join us.  We also crochet and are happy to teach you how to knit or crochet and help you with your project.

Worship without Walls

Someone once said, “Church is what is left when the building burns down and the pastor is out of town.”  This image makes us look at what it is that we really do in and for the world.  One of the blessings we have enjoyed for many years now is what Pastor James calls, “Church without Walls”.  This is a special ministry where we visit two convalescent homes in and near Elk Grove on a regular schedule along with several other churches. We get to know these elders of the world and their stories, we sing a lot, pray, and we share the Good News of Jesus Christ with them.  Truly a “ministry of presence”, we extend our community to theirs as we share the love of Christ among us.
